Did Xuanzong of Tang expand its territory into Korea?

(Map) The highlighted area of Manchuria (North of Korean Peninsula) was not part of Tang Dynasty. The territory belonged to a country of Korean history called Balhae.

(Map) The term ‘East Sea’ should be used rather than ‘Sea of Japan’. The term ‘Sea of Japan’, which the Japanese government claims, is a remainder from Japanese Imperialism. ‘East Sea’ has been a part of Koreans’ lives historically.

(Table) During the reign of Xuanzong, Tang did not expand its territory into parts of Korea. As mentioned above, there was a country called Balhae which occupied northern parts of the Korean peninsula and Manchuria. Underneath Balahe was Silla that ruled the rest of Korean Peninsula.
