Is the ownership of Dokdo Island disputed between Korea and Japan?

Dokdo Island is not a subject for territorial dispute. Dokdo is an integral part of Korean territory, historically, geographically and under international law. No territorial dispute exists regarding Dokdo, and therefore Dokdo is not a matter to be dealt with through diplomatic negotiations or judicial settlement. The government of the Republic of Korea exercises irrefutable territorial sovereignty over Dokdo. Also, the term ‘Liancourt Rocks’ is from a French whale ship named ‘Liancourt’ which spotted Dokdo in 1849. This is a term that Japan had spread to the international community with the intention of diluting Korea’s sovereignty over Dokdo prior to marking the islets as Takeshima.
