Hangeul was banned for use in between the rule of Yeonsangun(1494-1506), but after that, such measures were abolished, and Hangeul was used steadily by subjects. On the contrary to what is said on the description, Hangeul research was actively conducted during the Japanese colonial period by Koreans.
